Terms of Use

1. What BuyBuild Companion is

BuyBuild Companion is a digital property guidance and advisory companion. It helps you organise records, understand steps and decide when to involve professionals. It is not a lawyer, conveyancer, surveyor, engineer, architect, inspector, estate agent, bank or local authority, and it does not give legal, financial or tax advice.

2. Your decisions remain yours

You decide what to buy, build and pay for. Guidance, STOP, CHECK and READY statuses, and Companion answers are general information based on what you record. READY never means we have certified that anything is safe, legal, approved or complete. Before you rely on ownership, title, plans, approvals or structural safety, get confirmation from the right professional or authority.

3. Your account

• You must be 18 or older.
• Keep your password private. You are responsible for activity on your account.
• Give accurate information. Guidance depends on what you record.
• Tell us at support@buybuildcompanion.com if you think someone else has used your account.

4. Plans and payments

• Start (US$0) lets you begin without a card.
• Property Companion costs US$89.99 per property for 90 days.
• Build Companion costs US$14.99 per month or US$149.99 per year.
• Prices, what each plan includes and billing periods are always shown before you pay.
• Paid plans are being set up and are not yet available to buy. When they open, payments will be processed by Pesepay.
• If you are not satisfied, you can ask for a full refund within 7 days of your first payment for a plan, by emailing billing@buybuildcompanion.com.
• If a paid plan ends, your account and records stay available to view. Ending a plan is different from closing your account.

5. Your records and content

• You own the records, documents and photos you add. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide the service to you.
• Only add content you have the right to add. If you record details about other people, such as builders, record only what is needed and factual.
• Do not record false accusations. Record facts, dates and evidence.
• Uploading a document or photo does not mean we have checked or verified it.

6. Acceptable use

You must not use BuyBuild Companion to break the law, mislead others, harass anyone, upload harmful files, try to access other people's accounts or records, or disrupt the service.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep the service available and your records safe, but we cannot promise it will always be uninterrupted. Keep your own copies of important original documents. We may improve or change features. We will tell you about important changes to these terms.

8. Limits of our responsibility

To the extent allowed by Zimbabwean law:

• we are not responsible for decisions you make, money you pay to others, or the actions of sellers, developers, builders, agents or professionals;
• we are not responsible for losses caused by relying on guidance without getting the professional or official confirmation we recommend;
• our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms removes rights you have under Zimbabwean consumer law.

9. Closing your account

You can close your account at any time from your account settings, or by emailing support@buybuildcompanion.com. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. Closing your account permanently deletes your records within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep them (financial records are kept for 6 years).

10. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Zimbabwe. If you have a complaint, contact us first and we will try to resolve it with you. Any dispute we cannot resolve will be dealt with by the courts of Zimbabwe.
